About Us

The Most Venerable Chief Dhammaratana's vision was to create a Community Centre that reaches out to women who are in need of help, counselling and support. In 2004, The Most Venerable Chief Dhammaratana, initiated the formation of the Centre.

After years of hard work, from raising funds to construction, the Centre is now ready to fulfill The Most Venerable Dhammaratana's vision for the community. The task in completing the centre was a journey by itself, providing joy and satisfaction to those involved. We are proud to name the centre, TI-RATANA PENCHALA COMMUNITY CENTRE, an extended family member of the TI-RATANA WELFARE SOCIETY. (to read more about Ti-Ratana Welfare Society click here)

The Centre provides services and programmes such as:

  1. Counselling to help increase self confidence.
  2. Teaching and understanding of Buddhism.
  3. To provide women with the avenue to enrich their lives and teach them to be self-sufficient.
  4. To feed the poor, homeless and destitute.
Ti-Ratana Penchala Community Centre welcomes all; regardless of race, creed and religion. To fellow Buddhists, the Centre offers a place for practice and refuge to the tenets of 'do no evil, do good and purify your mind'.

This Centre is made possible with public donations and volunteer work. Hence, this centre belongs to you and for the welfare of those in need. Your donations and volunteer effort is likened to a seed that eventually grows into a tree that will bear bountiful fruits for harvest to help the needy.

The Centre, fundraising and management aspects are led by the Chairperson, Catherine Lai-Lee, and the Management Committee of the Centre.

Everyone can be great because anyone can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't even have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve... You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love...
